Dan MaKeymasterAll of the classes have been helpful for me, but here are some thoughts from me:
- I personally found the assignment to be the most helpful, though I do understand that technology can be a barrier for many–the effort put into creating the video was well worth the feedback.
- Personally I like the classes most where we dissect a move from one of the forms and drill it over and over, then sprinkle in discussions and at least one exercise/drill that challenges strength endurance.
- I also found it helpful when Alyda was behind the scenes watching us practice and letting us know how to do it better.
- It would be interesting to test our Speed, Agility, and Quickness by introducing noise/visual ques between a set of responses (a few blocks & strikes?). Example: always performing chain punches except when we hear: wood-block noise = tan sao, whistle noise = bong sao. Just a playful idea…success rate unknown.

VeronicaParticipantHey friends! I struggle most with consistent practice. While I am able to do yoga and siu lim tao almost everyday, a lot of weeks fly past in a blur because I am wrangling kids in a homeschool situation and juggling other family demands.
I really appreciated when we had the “homework” of practicing the tri level kicks, etc. Just the concept of a specific home practice request helps me remember and honor actually doing it.
I have great respect for those who practice regularly and I feel like having assigned practice motivates me. Dan and I don’t always practice together because I am so focused on the kids. He has a lot more of the Chum Kiu down which is creating marital strife.
Just kidding! My next Wing Chun goal is learning the Chum Kiu. My legs have gotten much stronger in the past year! Thank you so much for the help!
